The rise of New Culture Movement in the early twentieth century, theuniversalizationof education has become increasingly important. Along with the abolition of the feudal imperial examination system, some new modern schools have been set up. Hui People' modern education has been promptly developed with the advocacy of some elites of Hui People. A great number of new schools for Hui People are founded in some cities such as Beijing and Nanjing. Later, they were extended to the Northwest of China and the education for Hui People has been gradually universalized.In the country began liberalizing its economy,faced with the fault of Hui Traditional Culture, Ma Zhixin founded "amateur classes Arabic language" in the support of Hui people, which started the new education for Hui People in the new times. The advocacy of new education for Hui People in Lin Xia region played a positive role in the development, spread and inherit of the local Islamic cultures. Influenced by Ma Zhixin and LinxiaArabic language school, there was an upsurge for Linxia Hui communities and suburbs to learn traditional culture of Hui People. Later on,Driven by some foresighted intellectuals from Hui People like Ma Zhixin, numerous Arabic schools, Arabic language classes and female Muslims' schools had been gradually set up in northwest regions even in the whole country. The Arabic School, set up by Ma Zhixin, provides the opportunity for some young people to learn religiousculture, ideological and moral education. The school develops their skills, making them useful to the country, the society and the nation. Its new modern educational system unites the tradition and modernity, the national culture and diverse cultures, reflecting the nationality and characteristics of the age.This paper tries to explain the following aspects:Ma Zhixin spread the modern education in Linxia region. It discusses the development direction of the Hui culture. The paper covers six parts, includingthe introduction and the conclusion. The introductionsection outlines the significance of the research, the current situations of the research home and abroad, the methods and innovations of the research. The beginning of the second part elaborates the generation, development and the basic clue of the new modern education for Hui People in LinXia region.Then it covers the introduction of Ma Zhixin's whole life and his educational practice.The third part discusses the sources of t Ma Zhixin's modern educational ideology, including his elder brother Ma Zhizhong's enlightenment, the influence from Chen Keli and his own perception of life. The fourth part focuses on the specific content of modern educational ideology of Ma Zhixin, of which are the golden mean, the equal importance of Chinese language and Arabic language, women's education, the reformation of education in Mosque, the minimization of the differences among religious sects, and patriotic ideas. These ideas have great practical significance to the contemporary Muslim groups.The fifth part is on the influence of new education and the reflection on modern education, improving the social status of women of Hui People,the revival of the classic Islamic translations, as well as some of the problems existing in the development of modern education,the cultural awareness, adjustments of traditions, the cultural significance and development direction of the new education for Hui people and other issues. The sixth part is the conclusion.
