In Shanghai,with the further promotion of PE specialization in senior high school and the pilot implementation of PE diversification in junior high school,the sports skills of PE teachers have been paid more and closer attention ever since.PE Teachers' mastery of sports skills is not an important symbol of a qualified sports teacher's basic quality,but one of the basic literacy that PE teachers should have,and its importance is beyond doubt in PE teaching.Some research methods are applied in this paper,including the method of literature,questionnaire survey method,interview method,mathematical statistics and others,to analyze the current situation of PE teachers' sports skills in Hongkou District middle schools,finding PE teachers of different ages vary from distribution of their sports specific to their ability in classroom demonstration;It is a tendency to convey the movement skill training through district integration of research and training,and the required training items are gymnastics,basketball,martial arts and athletics respectively;The frequency for each school to carry out teaching and research activities on sports skills' training is not in complete accord.The factors,which restrict the improvement of PE teachers' sports skills,lie in the following aspects,such as PE teachers' training system and professional training,PE teachers' awareness of independent exercise,their sports abilities and working environment,the evaluation system of PE teachers' sports skills and so on.The main conclusions and suggestions are as follows:1.The overall cognitive level of PE teachers in Hongkou District for the importance of improving sports skills is high.At present,most schools convey 1-2 teaching and research activities each semester,which is partial and few in number of training times.To ensure the training quality,PE teachers hope to attend the sports skill training,which features district integration of research and training,accompanied by the teaching and research group activities regularly.2.The major factor that restricts the improvement of PE teachers' sports skill is the undeveloped system of training PE teachers.In normal universities,the curriculum offered to normal students is lack of professional training on sports skills,and to the students,who major in Social Sports Guidance and Management,it is lack of the course on sports skills,especially the deficiency of re-training mechanism on post-occupation to them.Besides,some PE teachers are lack of the awareness of self training and the motivation of continuous career pursuit,which result in the decline of ability in sports skills.3.The main problem in the training at all levels is that it focuses only on classroom teaching and teaching methods,and ignores the sports skill guidance.Meanwhile,the evaluation system on PE teachers' skills is not perfect and lack of clear and specific evaluation criteria,and the deficiency of long-term effective supervision and management mechanism is another outstanding problem.4.Suggestions in the paper are put forward to invite experts and coaches of high level to organize training courses,make rational use of some schools' venues and their facility,set up respective project clubs and carry out sports activities regularly,which aim to stimulate the PE teachers' interest in sports skills and develop their enthusiasm of self training.5.Sports colleges and universities should increase the teaching on sports skills to those who major in Social Sports Guidance and Management,improve the teaching objectives and the requirements of Gymnastics Professional Teaching to those who major in Physical Education and strengthen post-occupation re-training mechanism on sports skills,which offer a powerful guarantee for the professional development of PE teachers.6.Through attending the teaching and research activities by school,interschool and district and making full use of the platform of "Skill Salon" and the resource of "Skill Talent",PE teachers can have the chance to guide and learn sports skills from each other,maintain and promote sports skills and enhance the emotional communication between them.7.In order to further improve teaching quality and to adapt to the demand for current PE curriculum reform on PE diversification in junior high school and PE specialization in senior high school,suggestions are also offered to strengthen PE teachers' sports skill training from the aspects of training methods,training objectives,training forms and training contents.8.To promote the PE teachers' sports skills,it is essential to establish a reasonable evaluation system of "hierarchical structure",humanized appraisal system and long-term supervision and management mechanism,which is also one of the effective means to prevent the decline of PE teachers' sports skills.
