Character is an important part of a textbook.Especially,in the Chinese textbook, the text can not only do without the characters to carry out the story and promote the plot, but also for students to play an example role. Therefore, the character is an important means of teaching material compiling to transfer knowledge and reflect the educational requirements. In the early period, scholars found that the male and female images in the textbooks were seriously maladjusted, and the number of male characters was much more and the status was higher. In the arrangement of teaching materials, editors carefully choose characters' parts of characteristics. So the selected materials in the male characters must have certain characteristics and value orientation, which is a new starting point of the research of Chinese textbooks. This thesis takes "male characters" as the research object, select two sets of Chinese textbooks from Hongkong and mainland for comparison. The mainland version of the materials selected in 2016 is published by PEP(People's Education Press)They include textbooks(12 volumes)of six grades from primary school.Hongkong version of the materials chosen was first published in 2011 "I love to learn Chinese" series primary school textbooks(24 volumes).According to the characters of the research scholars on the first use of literature, narrowing the scope of the study, the analysis framework of this study is established, including the male figures "fiction and reality","image" and "inner image" then, they will be divided into "characters not for sure","real characters" and "fictive characters",the external image is divided into age, nationality, occupation and age.The inner image of male characters is combined with moral elements, then made into moral male image.Through the frequency statistics for the three kinds of frequency statistics above and the analysis of relevant data, the similarities and differences of the two sets of textbooks can be compared. Finally, put forward the teaching and compiling the individual suggestions combined with their practical experience and draw the conclusion for teachers and textbooks. This paper is divided into six parts: introduction, the first part is the analysis framework and analysis method between the two textbooks;the second part is the statistics of the number of male image of the two textbooks and the analysis of the fictive and the real male image;the third part is the analysis of male characters' external image in the two textbooks;the fourth part is analysis of the male characters' inner image in the two textbooks;the fifth part is the enlightenment from the comparison of male characters in the two textbooks.Through the statistical analysis,I found that the two sets of teaching materials selection and arrangement in the male characters are both common, there are also some differences. The public part reflected in the two sets of textbooks is most male characters selected is children with similar age as students;the most significant difference of teaching version which is from the mainland textbooks put more emphases on heroes and political figures,it is more "historic" and "traditional",while the Hongkong version is based on the actual,it is more "modern" and "life".Teachers can select the male characters in the textbooks basing on the same type or the theme,in order to facilitate teaching. The selection of male characters also should be combined with the development of the times, based on the growth characteristics of modern primary school textbooks to update the content. The two sets of teaching materials both base on the history, culture of their background and their merits.
