With the continuous expansion of the scale of higher education,connotation construction and the quality of running a school has been the party and the government and university departments,colleges and universities in seeking the comprehensive reform,the diversified development of the investment while still learning on College Students' particular attention.This research adopted the “Student Engagement scale” method proposed by professor George D.Kuh in Indiana University to fully review the Shanghai professional students of physical education learning situation.Combining the scale with the characteristics of the students,modified the individual options of the questionnaire.This study investigated three colleges,that were Shanghai Normal University,Shanghai Sports Institute and East China Normal University with "Shanghai general university sports education professional students engagement questionnaire" as survey instrument.First of all,the five indicators of Shanghai professional students of physical education learning situation were overall analyzed.Secondly,this study made comparisons between different grade students and then the different gender one to realize the characteristics of different grade and different gender student engagement.Finally,the paper contrasted the engagement of physical education major students in Shanghai with local norms,analyzed the differences between the two ones,in this way to find the characteristic of the different universities.Based on the above research,some suggestions were provided for Shanghai sports education professional to improve the quality of education.Research results:1.Shanghai College Physical Education Students' learning input includes Academic Challenge,Active cooperative learning,Teacher and students interaction level,Education Experience and Campus Environment support five dimensions.The general situation of the study of Physical Education Majors in Shanghai is not very satisfactory.2.The students of physical education major in Shanghai colleges and universities all have a low score on the degree of academic challenge,the students generally have a low reading amount and the low ability to use knowledge and concepts.There is a positive correlation between the scores of the students of physical education major inShanghai in five dimensions.3.Five indicators of Shanghai Normal University sports professional students:The score of the Education Experience was the highest while Academic Challenge was the lowest.Campus Environment support and Active Cooperation got the similar scores but all less than college.The index of interaction between teachers and students,it made no obvious difference between Shanghai Normal University and local colleges.4.Five indicators of Shanghai Sports Institute students: The score of the Academic Challenge was the lowest.The other four indicators there were no obvious difference.Results indicated that this school' students ability of reading?writing and using knowledge need to improve in.5.Five indicators of East China Normal University sports major students: Both of the Academic Challenge and the Teacher-student interactions were lower than local norms,and there were obvious differences.Results indicated that the students of this school lack of communication about career planning between students?teachers and counselors.Like two other schools,lack of initiative training in writing and literature reading time.6.There are significant differences in the level of active cooperative learning and the interaction between teachers and students in different grades of physical education major in Colleges and universities in Shanghai.7.According to different gender differences of students majoring in Physical Education in Shanghai Normal University,academic challenge,active cooperative learning and student teacher interaction level in three dimensions,there are significant differences between female and male,and experience in education richness and campus environment support,there is no significant difference.
