With the development of information technology,the era of knowledge-based economy has arrived.Nowadays,knowledge is upgraded with an accelerated speed day by day.We are surrounded by enormous amount of information every day.It can quickly help students select valuable information in the ocean of knowledge by research of mathematic reading and teaching and by improving students' reading ability.In the process of teaching,Students' understanding of mathematics text,graphic symbols of mathematics language has a direct impact on the ability of students' to solve problems,and that will determine students' test scores.In this paper,students'(first school stage)reading ability in mathematic was tested by examination papers designed in advance.The results showed that lower grade students'reading ability of symbols in primary school was the best,They could basically understand the meaning of the symbols.Their reading ability for word questions lied in the second place,and their reading ability for graph questions was the last.In terms of gender,there is no significant difference between boys and girls at mathematic reading ability.No significant difference was found between students,total scores,scores for symbol questions,word questions and graphic questions from the results.There is a correlation between their language scores and reading ability in Mathematics.In terms of word questions,students of first school stage had low scores,because it was difficult for them to understand the key words of questions,selected useful information from the questions and understand inconsistent information.In terms of graphic questions,students had low scores,because they could not understand the real meaning of those graphics.According to the research conclusion,some suggestions for mathematic teaching was proposed:Use pictures,graphics and other visual auxiliary materials carefully during mathematic teaching;Help students understand the influence of the key words in mathematics reading;Strengthen students' comprehensive ability,promote the improvement of reading ability in mathematics;Promote students' reading skills and methods about mathematic;Developing students' self study ability.
