In a variety of forms to cultivate children's interest in reading,picture books have a unique position and show its importance.Picture books are different from the traditional Chinese language textbooks,and are loved by children for its exquisite pictures as well as beautiful and concise words.The illustrated forms of picture books conform to the children's intuitive image-thinking,which can inspire students' interest in reading and cultivate students' imagination and creativity.Therefore,picture books are more suitable for younger students.Primary school stage is a golden period for cultivating students' good reading habits.However,at present,the choice of reading materials for lower grade students,both at primary school and at home,is rather tedious.This may lead to their low interest in extracurricular reading.Based on this situation,this paper believes that teachers of lower grade should take full account of the characteristics of the students,choose to cultivate their reading habits,conduct them in reading instruction,and apply picture books to first-line teaching practices.This paper is composed of six chapters.Chapter 1 is the introduction part that elaborates the origin and significance of the selected topic.Through the literature retrieval and reading,this chapter comprehensively summarizes the contents of the research on the picture books.The purpose of this chapter is to find the existing deficiencies of the research status and finally introduce the research methods of this paper.Chapter 2 introduces and summarizes the two basic elements,the constituent of picture books and the teaching of picture books reading.This chapter explains in detail the concept,the compositions,the types,the genres and the characteristics of picture books.At the same time,it profoundly interprets the status quo,the function and theoretical basis of the teaching of picture books reading so as to provide corresponding support for the practical research of this paper and reveal its value.Chapter 3 is further extended from Chapter 2.It briefly discusses several aspects that need to be emphasized in the preparation strategies of picture books as a teaching resource for reading.For example,selecting the picture books children may like,selecting the picture books which have educational significance,selecting those picture books that meet the child's age characteristics,taking the world picture books awards for reference and selecting the picture books can be used in combination with the contents of the teaching materials.Chapter 4 is the most important part of this paper.By referring to the reference materials,the teaching practices and actual class case studies,the concrete implementation teaching strategy of picture books reading is refined.First,under the premise of determining the teaching objectives of picture books reading based on the Chinese curriculum standards,through the reference to the curriculum standards,the characteristics of the picture books,the actual situation of the students,teachers should develop teaching contents for picture books reading.Secondly,according to the different types and characteristics of picture books,teachers should select the appropriate classroom teaching modes,such as reading and revelation,performance,method guidance,reading and writing,imagination leading,and recommended reading.Thirdly,the paths of teaching picture books reading in class are proposed,such flexible methods as reading,role-playing,inquiring learning,developing imagination and sequel method.Fourthly,based on the characteristics of interactive and participatory teaching of picture books reading,teachers need to co-ordinate and arrange targeted classroom environment arrangements and parental participation in parent-child activities.Chapter 5 follows Chapter 4 and makes recommendations on the evaluation strategies for picture book reading teaching.We advocate the use of formative assessment methods to focus on students' learning processes and use performance assessment methods to evaluate students' learning performance.Chapter 6 concludes with a summary of the research significance,overall contents,and remaining issues of this paper.In summary,based on the previous research and combining teaching practice,this paper proposes a teaching strategy for picture books reading in primary school according to the unique characteristics of picture books.The purpose of this research is try to puts forward the teaching of picture books reading for lower grade students,and to provide reference methods for first-line Chinese teachers,so as to further improve the quality of Chinese education.
