Political skill in the workplace has drawn considerable interest from scholars for decades.Political skill is defined as the ability to effectively understand others at work,and to use such knowledge to influence others for one's personal and/or organizational goals.However,much less is known about the methods for learning and developing political skill.Three process issues must be typically addressed through the skill-building process.The first step is selfawareness and understanding of oneself.Next,political skill can be shaped and developed through established learning methods such as experiential exercises,cases,vicarious learning,role-playing,and communication skill training.Finally,periodic evaluation and feedback is recommended.But the specific contents of these steps are not clear yet.We cann't use it to guide the practice of specific work better.So this research is trying to find more about the three stages of the development of political skill,typical situations,and specific coping strategies on the basis of theoretical research and the qualitative study.We are trying to make an effective plan for employees' political skill training,test its feasibility and effectiveness,and attempt to refine the intervention mechanism of political skills.Through the preliminary study,we interviewed 11 employees and found that individuals should learn more about his own ability,goal of development,requirements in the organization,and his understanding of relationships in the workplace so as develop his political skill.Political skill is not a single ability.It's the combination of several kinds of ability.So the ability of integrating several dimensions of political skill is extremely important to enhance it.In addition,group counseling corresponds to the development stages and factors of political skill,and it's very suitable to be used as the overall framework of the training.Thus,this research is trying to apply group counseling to employees' political skill training to design training programs containing six modules.Pre-post-follow-up measure of the political skill was administered to assess 20 employees.After group counseling,members showed a rapid increase of political skill.The research results showed that group counseling can enhance the level of employees' political skill.Research applyed group counseling to employees' political skill training and provided a new theoretical thinking and practical skills.This model as a feasible theory path are benefit for the enterprise,and should be used for reference during the training management of the enterprise.
