Cultivated land is the most basic means of production.On the background of china's rapid economic and social development,the speeding up of the industrialization and rapid development of urbanization have a great impact on the spatial pattern of the cultivated land and settlement.Understanding the dynamic changes and spatial pattern can provide guidelines for protecting the cultivated land and optimizing distribution pattern of towns and villages.This Paper takes Shuangliu district as the study area,based on the cultivated land and settlement data of Shuangliu in 2009 and 2014.By using statistical analysis method,GIS spatial analysis,landscape ecology method and principal component analysis,we analysed the spatial distribution pattern and spatial-temporal evolution of cultivated land and settlement in Shuangliu district.Moreover,we explored the spatial-temporal evolution and its driving mechanism of the coupling relationship between cultivated land and settlement.Based on the research target,the main research conclusions are as follows.(1)The distribution of cultivated land around downtown and the surrounding area,the southeastern of longquan mountains is small,while that in other area is large,with small difference.During the study periods,cultivated land of Shuangliu shows a decreasing trend and obvious regional difference.Cultivated land that decrease larger area mainly distributed in the shuangliu city and the surrounding area.As for the area far from the city,the cultivated land decrease slowly.Cultivated land are mostly transferd into settlements,indicating intense transformation between cultivated land and the settlement in Shuangliu district.(2)Settlemens in Shuangliu district is spatially aggregated distribution.From 2009 to 2014,the distribution density of settlement was increasing.The aggregation degree of settlement was in strengthening.Elevation,slope,the distance to river and road have significant impacts on settlement distribution.More than 70% of the settlement distributed within 500 meters of elevation.With the increase of elevation,the area and number of settlement were declining.About 70% of the settlement distributed within the slope from 0°to 10°.Settlement reached 70% or more than 80% in 1000 meters far from rivers and roads.From the aspect of spatial distribution characteristics of landscape pattern,Overall,in low elevation,low slope and close distance to rivers and roads areas,the settlement of mean patch size and percent of landscape are higher.With the increase of elevation,the degree of fragmentation and mean nearest neighbor distance increased gradually.With the increase of distance to rivers and roads,the settlement of patch area decreases,the settlement of patch aggregation index reduce,Settlement patch fragmentation increase.In 2014,compared with 2009,fragmentation of settlements decrease in each different distance range of the rivers,roads,different altitude,slope,while mean nearest neighbor distance reducie and aggregation degree improves,settlements patch shape index decrease.The spatial distribution of settlement is in a state of continuous optimization(3)On the basis of area ratio index(K)of cultivated land to settlement,this study divided coupling relationships between cultivated land and settlement into three categories.One is “more cultivated land”,which are few,and it mainly distribute in the town of Taiping town,Yongan town,Huangshui town.The second one,named “less cultivated land”,is the most widely distributed type,which mainly distributed in the north of the town.Last one is balanced type of cultivated land and settlement,whicn is relatively more widely distributed.It mainly distributed in the southern region in Shuangliu district.From 2009 to 2014,the change of the type of less cultivated land is the most significant one,which continuously extended to the south from the Shuangliu city center.The balanced type of settlement and cultivated land decrease,while the type of more cultivated land changes slightly.The results revealed that the shuangliu district of cultivated land is smaller.Cultivated land is in a decreasing trend,while the settlement is in expansion trend.The contradiction between cultivated land and settlement is sharp.With the rapid development of the economic and social,this kind of contradiction has a tendency to strengthen.(4)The driving forces of spatial-temporal evolution of the coupling relationship between cultivated land and settlement are the rapid development of economic and social and the rapid increase in population.The development of social economy and the increase of population decrease the cultivated land area while expand the settlement area.Specialy,rapid economic-social development showe stronger impact.In future,the economic and social development and the increase in population will have more dramatic impact on spatial-temporal evolution of the coupling relationship between cultivated land and settlement.
