Study On The Energy Cooperation Between Xinjiang,China And Central Asia

Energy is the lifeblood of economic development in every country all round the world.Now China is the biggest energy consumer in the world.In 2015,crude oil dependency of China was 59.60%.International Energy Agency estimated that China's oil dependency will up to 82% by 2025.The crude oil imports and importing routes are very unstable.The oil is mostly imported from politically unstable areas such as the Middle East and Africa.The importing routes are from Indian Ocean to the strait of Malacca.The Central Asian Countries bordered with Xinjiang,China have abundant oil and natural gas.In the short term,energy cooperation between China and Central Asia will ease the excessive reliance on seaway transportation of energy in the Middle East.In the long-term,it will help to build energy pipelines to the Middle East.Therefore,the strategic position of Xinjiang in the whole picture of the energy cooperation between China and Central Asian countries is becoming increasingly important.This thesis reviews and summarizes the domestic and foreign research result on energy development and energy cooperation between Xinjiang,China and Central Asia.And the thesis analyzes and evaluates present condition and problems of energy cooperation with the actual situation of energy cooperation between two sides and Xinjiang's current position in the whole picture of energy cooperation between China and Central Asia.The Cointegration test is done on the relationship between Xinjiang's total energy imports and GDP in China from 1999 to 2014.The test result shows that there is a long-term stable relationship between Xinjiang's energy imports and GDP in China.Total energy imports in Xinjiang has a positive role in promoting GDP in China.Energy cooperation between China and Central Asia is beneficial to China's economic growth,and strengthening energy cooperation between the two sides will bring positive benefits to china.At the end of the thesis,countermeasures and suggestions are given to strengthen energy cooperation between Central Asia and Xinjiang,China.
