The industrial revolution changes the production modes of human beings fiercely. The most direct consequence of over-dependence on fossil fuels, which could lead to mass greenhouse gas emission, and greenhouse effect, melting of alpine glacier and rise of sea level. The greenhouse effect has influenced on our lives in all aspects. In recent years, many developed countries think carbon emission is a critical factor in cause environment pollution,so more and more countries gradually reach the consensus of green development and appeal to reducing the emission of carbon. The Chinese government put forward enhancing ecological civilization construction, building up environmental-friendly society and realizing goals of reducing in carbon emission and green development.China plans to reach the peak of carbon emission in 2030 and improve the consumption proportion of non-fossil energy,to build up smart low-carbon cities soon. The Silk Road Economic Belt involves 5 provinces in the eastern part,5 provinces in the northwestern part and 4 provinces in the southwestern part. The Silk Road Economic Belt is a culture symbol and an innovation mode of Eurasian continent to cooperate, connecting China with central, western and southern Asia, more distance in Africa and Europe.By connecting the East Asian,Central Asian and European,it enhances the economic cooperation and promotes the integration of Eurasian continent. The Silk Road Economic Belt is abundant in varieties of natural resources, the ecology of which is so vulnerable at the same time.Under the circumstance of the contradiction between meeting development opportunities and undertaking environmental pressure, green and low-carbon is an inevitable and dominant tone of the cooperation in this region. This paper summarizes the literature domestic and abroad and builds up theory of regional difference of carbon emission. This paper also proposes to make comparisons between regions by decomposing the driving factors of carbon emission and master the practical situation of different regions on the basis of measuring and calculating in separate regions. Then empirical analyses are taken by collecting relative data of 14 provinces along the Silk Road.First of all,the paper measures and calculates the carbon emission of provinces along the Silk Road from 2005 to 2014 by utilizing IPCC inventory method,in order to know the basic situation of carbon emission of different provinces. It has been found that the total carbon emission is growing large, while the increasing rate and economic growth have similar changing tendency.Next, the paper decomposes and quantifies the influence of the four main reasons that could lead to carbon emission by using the model of Kaya, which are emission factors of carbon, energy intensity, economic scale and population size. The paper finds out that the main reasons for the increase of carbon emissions are the pursuit of the economic scale and low efficiency rate of energy. At last, this paper divides the 14 provinces into 3 parts, including eastern, southwestern and northwestern regions,to summarize the carbon emission of each region, propose improving suggestions and seeks prospects for future research and development.
