A Study On The Spatial Evolution Of Wholesale Market In Xi'an

Wholesale market is the distributing center of the city's internal goods,as well as an important form of commodity circulation.Since the reform and opening up,though not without twists and turns,China's commodity wholesale market has experienced constant development and growth,contributing greatly to urban economic development.The accelerating urbanization makes the layout of the wholesale market different from the past.The wholesale market land use is an important part of the urban land use,thus the change of its spatial layout will also affect the urban spatial structure.Taking the city of Xi'an as an example,based on field investigation and research,adopting the spatial statistical analysis method,this thesis studies the spatial evolution and characteristics of the wholesale market in the past two decades.The results show that there are two main changes in the development of wholesale market in Xi'an: a more comprehensive business scope and an increasing operating income year by year;the market pattern which formerly appeared in the form of street layout has developed into the form of wholesale market.Afterwards,the situation of spatial agglomeration and evolution of Xi'an wholesale market in 1995,2005 and 2015 are studied by using space Gini coefficient,kernel density analysis and gravity center method.This thesis finds that not only do the evolution of aggregation and diffusion occur at the same time,but they tend to draw near to logistics parks and extend along the traffic trunks.Its center as a whole shifts to the northeast of the city,from the subdistrict office of West No.1 Road to the junction of the subdistrict office of Zi Qiang Road and that of Daming Palace Street.The past 10 years has witnessed a long distance of this shift.This thesis goes on to analyze the characteristics and influencing factors of the spatial evolution of wholesale market in Xi'an from the following six aspects: commercial planning,transportation,land price,agglomeration effect,urban spatial expansion and commodity characteristics.Because of the agglomeration of the wholesale market,it is easy to form a new "growth pole",which will have an impact on the urban spatial structure: expanding the urban space,enhancing the link among different functional zones,and increasing the city's internal traffic pressure.Finally,some suggestions for the future development of the wholesale market in Xi'an City are put forward in two aspects ——the spatial distribution and the internal development of wholesale market.This thesis further forecasts that the future spatial distribution of the wholesale market in Xi'an City will be mainly in North Sanhuan area,and will be closely integrated with the logistics parks.
