With the rapid development of the world economy,companies as an important component of the society are facing the more and more complicated survival environment.In this rapidly changing market environment,invariable eventually will be sifted out by society,we must has constant innovation in order to seek development.Leadership style plays an important role of enterprise.Staff is the performer of all the plans and goals.Only a combination of leader and staff can get the gall of innovation and improve innovation performance.Then how does leadership style affect innovation performance? Does there has any difference between the effects of transformational leadership and transactional leadership style on innovation performance? This study holds that there are two kinds of leadership style: transformational leadership and transactional leadership.Transformational leadership has four dimensions: Idealized Influence or Charisma,Inspirational Motivation,Intellectual Stimulation and Individualized Consideration;and transactional leadership has three dimensions: Contingent Reward,Active Management by Exception and Passive Management by Exception.In the meantime,this study introduces ”organizational innovation climate” as a mediate variable to explore the mechanism between leadership style and innovation performance.This study firstly reviews the development of leadership style theory,then summarizes the definition and structure of organizational innovation climate and innovation performance.On this basis of literature review,it puts forward a relevant model and some assumptions.Then,using a quantitative and qualitative research methods,this study conduct an empirical study based on a large-scale questionnaire survey,aiming at exploring the impact of leadership style on innovation performance and the mediate role of organizational innovation climate.The empirical results show that,four dimension of transformational leadership has significantly positive correlation with innovation performance.Different dimension of transactional leadership style has different correlation with innovation performance.There is also a positive correlation between contingent reward and innovation performance,active management by exception and innovation performance.But passive management by exception has no significant relationship with innovation performance.Specifically,organizational innovation climate plays a partial intermediary role between leadership style and innovation performance.
