Reducing the impact of export trade on carbon emissions has the great significance to low-carbon economy.For a long time,China's exports mainly depend on resources,energy and pollution-intensive products.The consequence is the increasing of carbon emissions.Since China enter into WTO,the volume of export trade has increased at an average rate of 20%-30% per year.With the acceleration of trade liberalization and globalization,the environmental pollution problem caused by this has become more and more serious.Coastal areas are the areas where trade is flourishing.Trade exchanges in coastal areas have a profound impact on the development of China's export trade.At the same time,people pay great attention to the emission of carbon dioxide in coastal areas.In this context,it is of great significance to analyze the impact of coastal export trade on carbon emissions.Based on the theories of industrial economics,geography and spatial econometrics,this paper firstly analyses the current situation of export trade and carbon emissions in coastal areas;secondly,it uses SBM model to measure the carbon emission efficiency,Malmquist index and its decomposition index in coastal areas from 2006 to 2016;and then it analyses the historical evolution characteristics of carbon emission efficiency in coastal areas.Finally,the Tobit regression model is used to analyze the impact of the degree of export trade,technology level,government intervention level and infrastructure construction level on the efficiency of carbon emissions in coastal areas,and then the export trade is subdivided into industry level to analyze the factors affecting the efficiency of carbon emissions in coastal areas.The main conclusions are as follows:(1)In the current situation of export trade and carbon emissions in coastal areas,Guangdong Province ranks first in export trade volume,while Shandong Province ranks first in carbon emissions;Hainan Province ranks last in export trade volume,and its carbon emissions also rank last in coastal areas.(2)In the measurement of carbon emission efficiency,Malmquist index and its decomposition index in coastal areas,the carbon emission efficiency in coastal areas is generally low,but the overall trend is upward,and the space for improvement is larger;the change trajectory of technological progress index and Malmquist index in the study period tends to converge,while the change trajectory of technological efficiency index is different from that of Malmquist index.In terms of spatial pattern,the development trend of southern coastal areas is relatively high,especially in Guangdong Province,where the carbon emission efficiency is relatively high and the change trend is relatively good.The eastern coastal areas follow closely,while the northern coastal areas develop relatively slowly.(3)Regression analysis of export trade and carbon emission efficiency in coastal areas.For coastal areas as a whole,the degree of export trade is negatively correlated with carbon emission efficiency,and the level of technology is negatively correlated with carbon emission efficiency.However,the level of government intervention and infrastructure construction are not correlated with carbon emission efficiency;for northern coastal areas,the degree of export trade is negatively correlated with carbon emission efficiency.The physical characteristics are the same;the eastern coastal areas show that the degree of export trade is significantly unrelated to the efficiency of carbon emissions;while the southern coastal areas have four factors that will affect the efficiency of carbon emissions.(4)Chemical industry and metal smelting and calendering industry are the industries that produce more carbon emissions in export trade in the northern and southern coastal areas,especially in metal smelting and calendering industry.Therefore,regulating and improving carbon emissions in export trade of metal smelting and calendering industry can improve the carbon emission efficiency of the region.Based on the above conclusions,we know that to achieve the goal of emission reduction,we should advocate technological innovation,advocate and encourage enterprises to apply new technologies to regional production,and apply them to the production of export commodities.In order to improve the efficiency of carbon emissions in coastal areas,we should pay more attention to the role of technological progress in improving efficiency.At the same time,we should control the total carbon emissions of metal smelting and calendering industries in coastal areas,so as to improve their carbon emissions.
