Schedule management is an important component in the project management system and it involves the process for a series of management activities that aims to arrange and control the timing of all activities in a reasonable manner within the project deadline and reach a balance among progress,quality and costs,which directly decides the success of the project.Nowadays,under the increasingly fierce competition,the equipment manufacturing enterprises both need to use high quality and low price products to attract the customers and meet the stringent requirements on lead time.SY Aluminum Electrolysis Unit mainly adopts the Make to Order(MTO)strategy,which has higher technical requirements and longer production cycle,so as to lead to frequent delayed delivery.In order to meet the requirements of the market and customers and improve the corporate competitiveness,SY has applied the theories and methodologies in schedule management into the aluminum electrolysis unit manufacturing and installation projects to effectively control the project progress and realize the expected goal for the project.This paper studies the schedule management for aluminum electrolysis unit manufacturing and installation projects based on the basic theoretical approaches and tools for project schedule management.It first introduces the context of aluminum electrolysis unit manufacturing and installation projects,illustrates the project contents.organizational structure and goals and analyzes the project characteristics and driving factors of progress.In the next step,it develops the schedule plan for aluminum electrolysis unit manufacturing and installation projects:specifically,plan project phases,confirm project milestones,define logic relation,estimate working time and formulate preliminary network plan on the basis of breakdown structure,finalize project baseline plan after optimization and meet the project deadline.Finally,it introduces project progress control process,establishes progress monitoring and tracking system for project implementation process,analyzes the content&causes for schedule variance and timely correction measures,illustrates the method for schedule adjustment and puts forward the guarantee measures for progress control.Through the research on schedule management for aluminum electrolysis unit manufacturing and installation projects,this paper puts forward time optimization approach and progress control measures,which has certain guiding significance for baseline plan development and progress control for similar projects.Meanwhile,it can offer useful reference for schedule management of similar projects in the future by continuously summarizing and accumulating experience and methods applied in schedule management.
