A Study At The Space Structure Of Tongguan Town Streets Based On Vigor Revival Theories

From the end of 1950 s to the beginning of 1960 s,the basic thought and development direction of city planning was changed,lots of scholars realized that the city development can't only stayed at the form of expression and they started to focus on the shaping of city vitality.The street is the “reception room of the city”,the most important public place of the city and also the most vital place in the city;the vitality of the street reflects the city vitality to a large extent.Tongguan town was located in the Wangcheng district of Changsha,which was created in Tang dynasty,prosperous in the late Tang and weak in the Five Dynasties;it has the beautiful name of “the ceramic town with a thousand year of history”.In the 1960 s,along with experts' study and identification of Hunan Cultural Relic Management Committee and the Palace Museum,the deeply sleeping Tongguan town finally woke up and showed her unique artistic charm.Started from the theoretical research in this paper and the relevant theories of vitality renaissance are analyzed so as to extract the spatial elements of motivating street vitality;the current vitality situation and spatial structure of the Tongguan town streets is analyzed and finally the suggestion of space restructuring is presented aiming to the deficiency of vitality.Chapter ?: The part of introduction.Stating the purpose,significance,content and method of the project research is explained and the initial impression of Tongguan town is simply introduced.Chapter ?: Basic concepts occurred in the paper are interpreted and the foreign and domestic research progress about street vitality and space is settled so as to establish solid theoretical basis for the following content by strengthening to expound the theoretical framework of vitality renaissance and spatial structure.Chapter ?: Practical problems are analyzed by sorting out the historical context of Tongguan town.The vitality shaping development trend of the old town's streets is analyzed through the horizontal comparison of 3 successful domestic cases.Chapter ?: The street vitality elements are extracted by analyzing the influential factors of the vitality so as to obtain various indexes of street vitality evaluation and perform evaluation on the vitality of Tongguan town.Chapter ?: The elements,types and analytical methods of street's spatial structure are researched;the space syntax software depthmap is applied to assist based on the aspiration of scientific analysis and the space of Tongguan streets is analyzed so as to research its deficiency of vitality and present the vitality restructuring suggestions aiming to various spatial elements of the streets.The author expects,the paper research can obtain scholars and developers' attention on the vitality problem of the street so as to make a little contribution for the construction of Tongguan streets and other traditional streets.
