Study On Activation Of Cave Dwellings In Zhangjiakou

At the beginning of 1960 s,vernacular architecture began to be concerned by architects and designers and gradually enter people’s view,then its constructive abundant spiritual connotation has generated far-reaching influence on modern architectural form and living philosophy.As an ancient oriental country with 5000 years’ splendid civilization,China has a vast territory and numerous ethnic groups,creating conditions for the formation of colorful local architecture culture in China.In this study,the author focuses on the traditional vernacular architecture arch kiln residence in Zhangjiakou city of Hebei Province.Through a number of field investigations and the collation of related literature,This traditional architectural form is conducted thoroughly a layer-by-layer discussion.The paper is divided into three parts,including four chapters:First of all,the author starts with the area in which it belongs in the first part.Zhangjiakou arch kilns is the core area of northern Hebei cave dwellings,so the general characteristics and historical value of the cave dwellings in the north of Hebei Province are first expounded,in order to build up the basic framework of the research on Zhangjiakou arch kilns.then in the second part,the second and third chapter of the paper,the author makes a specific analysis about the development status and problems of Zhangjiakou arch kilns,and emphatically divides the existing problems into two parts,the problems of the building itself and the problems arising in the process of activation,which lays the foundation for solving the problems below.The third chapter is the research on the activating methods of Zhangjiakou arch kilns,the author puts forward the corresponding solutions to the existing problems and joins the representative cases to demonstrate.Not only is it more intuitional,it can also provide a reference for the final design.The third part of the paper is the fourth chapter,The author chose Zuojiafang Village Huai’an County of Zhangjiakou arch kilns to make an activating design,so that the activating methods further embodied in practice.The study has the important significance for The local residents live and work in peace and contentment,harmonious development of the society and the inheritance of arch kilns.
