SR5 Multiple-Launch Rocket System(hereinafter referred to as SR5 MLRS)is a new type of medium and long-range multitude wheeled rocket launcher independently developed in China.Constrained by its characteristics as well as the consideration to shape and size,the driving cab of special vehicles represented by SR5 MLRS has failed to extensively implement the ergonomics theories in its layout design,which leaves plenty of space for man-machine comfortability optimization.Due to the difference of human dimension parameter and vehicle service environment,the design method and standard of foreign driving cab are not completely applicable to the SR5 MLRS.As for the domestic military standard,the size limitation is too broad to meet the requirements for man-machine comfortability.Therefore,for the purpose of ergonomic performance enhancement,it is imperative to optimize the driving cab layout design of SR5 MLRS with vehicle ergonomic theories and Chinese human dimension.Firstly,during the preliminary investigation,the dimension parameters of the cab’s major parts are obtained,which brings in the key size indicators affecting the cab’s man-machine performance through analysis and summarization.Theory research has done on fundamental tools that have an impact on cab layout design including human body model,H-point and eye ellipse.With regard to the limitation that the H-point position line recommended by SAE is not entirely suitable for Chinese human dimension,the H-point position line in this paper has been optimized basing on the joint angle of comfortable driving together with Chinese male dimension features.Then,the optimized interval for H-point position line of comfortability is calculated by MATLAB programming.In accordance with the utilization characteristics and design experience of SR5 MLRS,the spatial position of driver’s H-point is determined.On the basis of optimized H-point,the paper establishes a mathematical model between H-point and the driver’s eye ellipse.And referring to the established mathematical model as well as relevantdesign standards and experience,the paper proposes an ergonomic design for the cab layout covering the seats,steering wheel and instrument panel with 3D models established in 3D modeling software.In the utilization of JACK software,a virtual simulation environment is built and an appropriate virtual human model is selected for three aspects of examination:comfortability,accessibility field,visual field from driving position.The simulation results indicate that the driving comfortability is significantly enhanced;the driver’s entire body parts are within comfort zone;all the operation devices are within reach area;and the instrument panel meets the requirements for view examination.In conclusion,the design proposal for driving cab is reasonable and achievable.
