Shanghai,a core city in the world-class urban agglomeration of the Yangtze River Delta,is a metropolis of international finance, trade, shipping, technology and culture. It has always been at the forefront of domestic urban construction and reform. With the further tightening of land resources in the process of urbanization, rebuilding and optimizing construction of comfortable public space,high-quality public services and open-shared community life circle on the basis of built-up area has become the mainstream trend in Shanghai’s new era of international urban development. In 2015,Shanghai took the lead in promulgation and implementation of urban renewal, and then transferred to urban renewal stage to improve the space form and function of the built-up area.In 2016,it promulgates the guidelines for the planning of 15 minutes community life circle in Shanghai. In 2016,Shanghai issued 15 minutes community life circle planning guide to create livable community life and suitable city for employment, play and further study. It has become an important measure for Shanghai to reflect it’s shared development philosophy and enhance residents’ well-being by providing high-quality community environment and public services for people of all ages. This means that the improvement of small spaces and the fine-tuning of functional shaping in the urban livable circle of Shanghai are more concerned.Obviously, this has brought new hope to the revitalization of the old residensial communities that are not in the city’s row of buildings. As an adjunct to the development of traditional manufacturing industries in the last century, most old residensial communities in Shanghai once satisfied residential needs of most unity citizens. However, with accelerating pace of urban development, problems that are incompatitible with community development have emerged. For instance, the frequency of population movements increases degree of heterogeneity and diminishes sense of belonging to the communities.Traditional functions of the communities has been weakened and imposes pressure on the public service system. The public facilities in exsiting communities are weak in foundation,in practicability,in the compatibility between the design and layout,as well as in the intelligent information service. In order to effectively improve the living quality of the old communities,to establish the harmonious neighbourhood relationship and the social structure relied by diverse groups, and to realize the integration of community and future city intellectualization,it is urgent to establish a community scheme which condenses community vitality by public spaces and facility systems, and promote the community of intelligent service level by integrating informationalized technical resources. Most of all,it is essential to research on the redesign of the system of community public spaces and public facilities. This thesis puts forward design practice of the public space and service facilities in the typical old residence community under construction of livable living circle in Shanghai.First of all, through the method of document analysis, empirical research, user portrait, function requirement analysis and multi-objective evaluation as well as other research methods,it summarizes the typical characteristics of the old residence communities in Shanghai from the perspective of public facilities, people’s behavior and environment space factors. After that,on the basis of a large number of detailed first-hand data,it summarizes the common problems of public facilities and their usage in old residence communities in Shanghai, explores the potential real needs of residents and then puts forward the design practice objectives of public facilities in communities. It aims to meet diversified demands from residents by building inclusive public space, intelligent service facilities and optimizing the environmental facilities. Then,it innovatively put forward corresponding public facilities configuration in ‘neighborhood circlecommunity circle-commuter circle’ based on livable living circle as well as redesign principles.Taking recreational facilities in old residence community as an example,it uses FAHP to compare functional requirements in order to establish a fuzzy judgment matrix based on language and obtain the distribution of the function weight. This further combines and digs out the progressive and real demand of diversified demands from residents in old residence communities. The method opens up a research approach to the effective fusion of qualitative and quantitative data in design problems.According to the results of the analysis, the design practice is carried out,and the visual design proposal is evaluated and analyzed. To some extent, the thesis provides theoretical support and decision-making basis for further construction of Shanghai, especially in improving the living environment, building ecological district and promoting the level of social services. It will help improve the social service level under the background of aging urban and construct a ‘global city’ with local cultural characteristics in Shanghai.
