Chinese contractors began to accelerate the expansion of overseas markets under “The Belt&Road Initiative”.However,The reports shows, comparing with the cost control capabilities of foreign construction companies, the profit margin of China's construction industry is relatively low.Although Building Information Modeling(BIM)is considered by academics and industry as a potential tool to improve the performance because of its function and potential effect, its application rate and maturity are relatively low in China. The main direction of BIM promotion is BIM modeling and design instead of it's implementation and management applications, which lead to BIM may not be able to play a due role. The successful factor analysis method based on BIM evaluation theory can find out the most important factors affecting the success of BIM projects and compare them with the attitudes of countries which have advanced BIM experiences. This method has important value because it can not only discover the existed problems in the application of BIM,it can also provide BIM with advanced experience for Chinese contractors. This research points out a successful factor analysis method based on BIM evaluation theory. The method is mainly to survey the attitude of Chinese and British contractors on BIM success factors through questionnaires.Ranking list are used to evaluate the importance scores for critical success factors. The differences between the contractors who have different background variables for the success factors of the BIM project were analysed.Though comparing the questionnaires from China and UK about the attitude of critical success factors and using the case study to prove the results so that some advanced management strategies were developed. This research establishes an analytical model for critical success factors about Chinese contractors apply BIM technology. In literature review,4 categories of 36 influence factors that have potential to affect BIM projects had been summarised, then 34 of influence factors have been filtered by interview. The research also uses questionnaires to investigate the attitude in China and the United Kingdom towards BIM success factors. In addition,by using One-Way ANOVA detection and Post-hoc detection analysis, the result shows that the most important aspect of BIM application is to ensure that BIM results are implemented in a logical order and strengthen BIM application experience, initial investment. The researcher applies the BIM success factor management strategy and the UK's BIM management experience to real cases. The results show that the proposed management strategy is feasible and can be applied to the actual project.
