Research On The Decorative Art And Application Of The Traditional Residential Doors And Windows In Central And Southern Shanxi In China

Shanxi province is one of the birthplaces of China and Chinese civilization,known as "the ancient Chinese culture museum".The central and southern Shanxi,depending on its favorable geographical location and developed commodity economy,is the richest region in the province.The good conditions create superior development environment for local culture.It is the gradual accumulation of culture that helps a variety of cultures sprout and spread,in which the most dazzling one is the artistic culture.The unique artistic and cultural characteristics in this region mainly stems from the traditional Chinese cultural spirits and local folk culture connotation.Under this circumstance,the decorative art of traditional residential doors and windows reflects artistic charm of being simple,quiet,and refined.Its decorative style features calmness,elegance and animation.Therefore,it becomes the model art masterpiece in northern China.On the basis of research on the background,art form and artistic features of the decoration of doors and windows in central and southern Shanxi,this paper analyzes the decoration patterns to explain their humanistic connotation and then discusses their artistic and cultural value and the overall aesthetic experience,so that it can provide more information for contemporary residential architecture and decorative design,which may be put into practice to achieve their artistic significance.
