Since the Wright Brothers “Flyer I”,aviation has been developing for more than a hundred years.Today, the world's busiest airports take off and land more than 1,000 flights a day,so many flights can operate safely, completely dependent on the continuous guarantee of air traffic control system.why ATC was born? What is the law of its development? Although these problems have been discussed many times, there is still a lack of detailed quantitative research. This paper chooses the origin country of air traffic management-the United States as the research object, hoping to find out the law of its development and evolution by means of data analysis and the division of development stages, and take it as the reference for the development of civil aviation air traffic control in China. The research contents are as follows:1)Analyzing the development data of American air traffic control, mainly including the number of airports and aircraft.Considering the scientificity and validity of the indicators,we screened the data, and finally selected six indicators representing the development of American air traffic control for nearly 90 years. At the same time, from the perspective of aircraft, aviation bill, air traffic control equipment, air crash and other aspects, the analysis and collation of American aviation history memoirs, and eventually formed a 100,000-word memoir manual, and as an important reference for the division of development stages.2)Fisher algorithm,a multivariate statistical method for orderly data classification,is used to divide the extracted index data into five stages.Considering the time nodes of historical events and comparing with the results of quantitative dating, the final dating conclusion is formed: 1919-1926,1927-1946,1947-1960,1961-1981,1982-2002,2003-2014 and other six stages.3)The development course of CAAC from 1949 to the present 70 years is analyzed. The statistical indicators of civil aviation transport development are analyzed and representative indicators are selected. At the same time, the life cycle theory is introduced and the typical growth curve model is used to fit the data.It is found that the evolution life cycle of civil aviation development in China is divided into three stages. Finally,by comparing the development of air traffic control between China and the United States,it is concluded that China is in the sixth stage of the development of air traffic control system. We systematically reviews the development process of ATC in the United States. It is the first time to analyze the development and evolution of ATC by means of data analysis, whichprovides a theoretical basis for the division of development stages of ATC in the United States. At the same time,we have a scientific understanding of the law of development and evolution of air traffic control in civil aviation of China, and provide support for better grasping the law of development of air traffic control.
