The recent rise in a number of calamities and terrorist acts has brought much attention to the vulnerabilities of supply chains and even more, with goods passing through many hands that span continents and entities, the reliability and timeliness of freight delivery become increasingly difficult to be somehow assessed.Although difficult,it can be one way or another assessed looking at the start of a trade flows. The Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority(GPHA)is embarking on an aggressive pursuit of diversity in order to increase cargo traffic and revenue. Therefore,in order to achieve the diversity-goal,GPHA must realize given the integral role of ports in supply chains nowadays,a vulnerable node of a port-related disruption can generate domino effect on a network of supply chains as well as negatively affect its effort to achieve a competitive advantage and market responsiveness.Accordingly, this thesis proposes a management model which could serve as a universal guide in assisting port management in handling port-related disruptions.Through an extant review of literatures nineteen(19)port-centric supply chain disruptions(PSCD)were identified. From this information,an integrated model is developed using interpretive structural modelling(ISM)for port-centric disruptive events. The main objective of this thesis is to identify and understand the ruutual interaction among the various port-centric disruptive events which could or would affect the performance Tema ports supply chain. The application of the ISM process revealed facility and adequacy of the port equipment and infrastructure events varied with some human issues, strikes and misunderstanding were found to be driving factors that influenced inadequate planning.Even so,security threats were also found to be influenced somehow by threat events arising from both infrastructure and planning. The threat matrix assessment enabled the likelihood/frequency and impact of each threat to be defined arithmetically as well as enabled a perspective evaluation of the two groups. The findings give ideas into areas of operational issues that warrant attention from Tema port management.
