Urban public space is an important place for urban residents to carry out social activities.In contemporary times,urban public space is facing increasing diversified needs and challenges in the transition period of public construction.The change of urban public space is receiving more and more attention,and the development of media The reconstruction of public space has had a major impact.Due to the vigorous development of new media technologies,urban public spaces have undergone significant changes in space characteristics and attributes under the compression of information space-time.Various traditional urban public spaces have become the media for information dissemination,the original spatial order has been dissipated to a certain extent,the traditional aesthet ic laws have been impacted,and the research perspective of urban public spaces needs to be adjusted according to the situation.From the perspective of medium theory,from the construction of medium theory in urban public space,the internal changes of urban public space in medium theory,the external display characteristics of urban public space in medium theory,and the update of urban public space in the new media era methods and other aspects were studied.In the related theoretical research,the medium theory t theory of urban public space is constructed,which mainly includes the historical evolution of China's urban public space and the new development and new requirements in the medium theory.This study introduces media-related theories into the category of architecture,and makes a comparative analysis of the evolution of domestic public space and the corresponding coordinated development process of medium.Based on the phenomenon summary,the internal changes and external display characteristics of urban public space under the medium theory are analyzed.Starting from the impact of media evolution on context,perception,and behavior,the impact of media on urban public space and its internal causes are analyzed.Aiming at the challenges and development trends of urban public space in the new media environment,this paper proposes a method for updating urban public space in the new medium era.And from the macro,meso and micro aspects,put forward design methods.In the previous research cases of urban public space,most of them started from traditional architectural methods such as form,function,and space.They attached importance to these visible things,and ignored the information flow that was invisible at the same time,such as the Internet,Digital TV,mobile communications,internet of things,etc.The innovation of this research is to broaden the concept of architecture through the theory of media environment,not only confined to the real field of current architecture,but by extracting elements from the booming new field.Because of the complexity of the city,any perspectives and values with absolute meaning will prove to be one-sided and narrow,so the review of existing research is also open,there is no "good" and "bad","right" "and "wrong".Therefore,this study attempts to understand the city and urban public space from othe r perspectives,which is a supplement to previous studies.The focus of this research is to explore the changes in the archiving and transmission capabilities of the media,the enhancement of the media's information storage and mobility capabilities,the structural remodeling,the reconstruction of the form,and the spatial landscape of urban physical public space.The reproduction of urban public space in the social situation,the deconstruction of space perception,the guidance of personal behavior.This study uses the medium theory perspective as a tool to respond to the transformation of urban public space,and updates urban public space as a whole system.Starting from the underlying logic of media influencing people,it analyzes the collaborative update method of urban public space for the transformation of urban public space.It provides a new design idea for the information age,which will play a certain theoretical guiding significance for the future construction.
