With the rapid development of automobile industry,people give the higher and higher requirements on the performance of the car,especially the fuel economy and driving comfort,and the requirement of the precision of automobile parts become higher and higher.Therefore,many advanced machining technology are applied to the mass production process of the automobile industry.Under this situation,the centerless grinding technology is widely applied to the production of automobile parts such as transmission shafts and bearings because of its high precision and high efficiency.But in actual centerless grinding production process,there are some defects so that the parts can't meet the requirements,for example,the big roundness error.So it's very important to analyze the centerless grinding process and select reasonable parameters for improving the precision,preventing the defects and reducing the quality cost.The centerless grinding technology is a special grinding technology in whose process the center of the workpiece isn't fixed.The rounding process of workpiece is a complicated process,and there are many factor which can affect the roundness of the workpiece,for example,the status of each part of the process system(Such as the guide roller,grinding wheel and supporting plate),the original status of the workpiece,the grinding parameters(Such as the dressing parameters of grinding wheel and the guide roller,the linear speed of grinding wheel,the rotating speed of the guide roller)and the status of grinding fluid and so on.Therefore,for improving the roundness of workpiece,the first step is finding the relevant factors which can affect the roundness error,and then make the optimization and machining test.In this paper,on the basis of theory in the world,it analyze the machining theory of in-feed centerless grinding,machine structure and grinding process with Jupiter 500 centerless grinding machine from Junker company,and analyzes the movement and loading status of workpiece;Then it studies several rounding theories of centerless grinding technology,and analyze the roundness error defects which happened in the production process with these theories,and find the factors which affect the roundness error;Finally,it make the machining test with Taguchi Method,and analyze the 4 factors(center height of workpiece,the top angle of supporting plate,the linear speed of grinding wheel,the rotating speed of guide roller)which are the affect the roundness of workpiece mostly according to the results,and find the optimal combination parameters.It has important instructing significance for the production process.
