Objective The pathophysiology of adolescent obsessive compulsive disorder(OCD)involves in neurodevelopmental factors. Its cognitive function development and personality traits gradually mature with age,and it has been strong plasticity. In this study, facial morphological characteristics were used as indicators of neurodevelopment,to explore the facial characteristics of adolescent obsessive compulsive disorder patients, and to provide information on the neurodevelopmental origin for them.To investigate the facial characteristics, cognitive function characteristics, personality traits and clinical characteristics of adolescent obsessive compulsive disorder patients, and to provide clues for the screening, diagnosis and intervention of adolescent obsessive compulsive disorder patients. Methods A total of 2400 high school students from two middle schools in Yinchuan were selected to screen and diagnose 40 patients with OCD and 38 healthy controls(HC)using the Obsessive Compulsive Inventory Child Version(OCI-CV).Two groups of subjects collected facial photos and measured 27 facial diameters and 9 facial angles using image software;6facial indices were calculated.Wisconsin Card Sorting Test(WCST),Stroop Color and Word Test,Tower of London(TOL),Trail Making Test(TMT),and Symbol Digit Modal Test(SDMT)were used to assess cognitive function in both groups. Two groups of subjects were assessed for their personality traits by the Trait Anxiety Inventory(T-AI)and Eysenck Personality Questionnaire(EPQ).Results(1)Compared with the healthy control group, the lower lip red height of the OCDgroup was thinner, the difference was statistically significant(P <0.05);the other facial indicators were not statistically significant(all P> 0.05).Compared with the male HC group, the lower lip red height of the male OCD group was thinner, the difference was statistically significant(P <0.05);the other facial indicators were not statistically significant difference(all P> 0.05).Compared with the female HC group, the nasolabial angle of the female OCD group became smaller, the difference was statistically significant(P <0.05);the other facial indicators were not statistically significant difference(all P> 0.05).The difference in facial features between OCD group and HC group was positively correlated with mental neutralization symptoms(r = 0.401,P <0.05).(2)Compared with the healthy control group, the total correctness of the Tower of London test in the OCD group decreased, and the difference was statistically significant(P <0.05);the other cognitive function tests had no statistically significant difference(all P> 0.05).The total correctnessof the Tower of London test in adolescent obsessive compulsive disorder was negatively correlated with suspicion / examination symptoms(r =-0.418,P <0.05).(3)Compared with the healthy control group, the OCD group had statistically significant differences in anxiety traits, introversion and extroversion, and neurotic personality characteristics(P <0.05),and no statistically significant differences in mental personality(P>0.05).Obsessive symptoms of adolescent obsessive compulsive disorder are positively correlated with anxiety and neuroticism(r = 0.346 / 0.422,P <0.05);hoarding symptoms are negatively correlated with extroversion(r =-0.381,P <0.05);washing symptoms and anxiety traits was negatively correlated(r =-0.317,P <0.05).Conclusion(1)The lower lip red height of adolescents with OCD patients becomes thinner than HC;the lower lip red height of male adolescents with OCD patients becomes thinner than HC;the nasolabial angle becomes smaller in female adolescents with OCD.Adolescent patients with OCD have a positive correlation between lower lip red height and mental neutralization.(2)The planning function of adolescents with OCD becomes impaired,it is negatively correlated with suspicion / examination symptoms.(3)Adolescent obsessive compulsive disorder patients have obvious characteristics of anxiety, introversion and neurotic personality.Adolescent obsessive compulsive disorder has a positive correlation with anxiety traits and neuroticism;hoarding symptoms have a negative correlation with extroverted personality;washing symptoms have a negative correlation with anxiety traits.
