Personnel management system is a type of practical informative text concerning laws and regulations which is characterized by succinct wording and informative language.This report is based on the translation of Personnel Management System of Automobile Loan Business Division.Its translated version is mainly used for reference by the foreign administrative and ordinary staff in this division.The author of the present report chooses Skopos Theory proposed by Vermeer Hans to guide this translation practice and applies its three rules to translating the Chinese original version into the English translated version.This translation report consists of five parts.The first part focuses on the introduction of the background and requirements of the task as well as the linguistic features of the source text.The second part describes the translation process,including the preparation work prior to the translation,the specific translation procedures and the follow-up proofreading and modification.The third part introduces the Skopos Theory,with emphasis on its three rules,i.e.,Skopos Rule,Coherence Rule and Fidelity Rule and illuminate how to apply this theory to guiding this translation practice.The fourth part involves case analysis,in which various specific translation methods and strategies are explored and summarized guided by the three rules of Skopos Theory at the levels of lexis,syntax and text.The fifth part is conclusion,which sums up the achievements,experience,understanding and insights from this translation practice.
