E-C Translation Of Part ? Of Animalkind:What We Owe To Animals And A Critical Commentary

This translation project consists of two parts:the translation practice and its critical commentary.In the first part,the original text of the translation part is chosen from Animalkind:What We Owe to Animals written by Jean Kazez.It is the third part,also Chapter 5 to Chapter 6,of this book.In this part,the author mainly presents her opinions on two ideas,namely speciesism and egalitarianism,about the relationship between human beings and animals,on which the author illustrates her own views on the topic about the relationship between human beings and animals:to find a balance between two ideas mentioned above and dissuade people from taking exploration and usage of animals for granted.Then,since the second part is the critical commentary of the translation part,the translation methods applied in the translation part are discussed from two major respects:literal translation and free translation,on the basis of Tytler's three principles of translation,from which two conclusions are drawn that though Tytler's three principles of translation are extracted from practices of literary translation,it is suitable for guiding non-literary translation as well as the translation of informal text and that literal translation and free translation should be used together in translation.
