| The author chooses news for the translation report.The news text is divided into several different genres of culture,science and technology,economy and politics.The economic news and the political news are the most widely spread and by far the most formidable to translate among all types of news text.The translation practice materials the author has chosen are several representative editorials of political and economic news which respectively represent four different topics: political forum,China's economic growth,traditional Chinese culture(TCM),and the political hot topic –anti-corruption.Based on Newmark's theory,the author writes the translation report.Newmark's theory is significant and profound in guiding the translation of texts of various types and different creating periods(contemporary news included)as one of the most important theories in the historical development of translation worldwide.The author applies Newmark's theory as the theoretical framework to explore translation methodology from four aspects: vocabulary,sentence,discourse and culture.Combined with Newmark's theory of semantic translation and communicative translation,the news translation can be faithful to the original text,and conform to the language expression of the target language readers.The translation report is in six parts: 1)description of the practice,including an introduction of the project background and selected materials,and a clarification of the reasons and purposes of choosing these materials;2)process of the practice,including reading related articles to get a deeper understanding about the characteristics of news translation and selecting typical translation materials;3)literature review,including overseas and domestic research of news translation and Newmark's theory;4)theoretical introduction,elaborating the Semantic Translation and Communicative Translation 5)case study,exploring translation methodology from vocabulary,sentence,discourse and culture;6)conclusion. |
