| As China's national strength and international influence increase,China's policies and guidelines have gradually become a topic of intense interest in foreign media.The press conferences held during the two sessions in China have attracted attention from home and abroad.The quality of translations at the press conferences will,to a large extent,affect the effectiveness and quality of China's external advocacy.In order to"let China go to the world and let the world understand China," more and more scholars began to pay attention to the translation strategy of the press conferences.This paper selects the transcription materials from two press conferences held during the first session of the 13th National People's Congress and the first session of the 13 th National Committee of the CPPCC in March 2018 as the object of study.From the perspective of the skopos theory,the three rules,namely,the skopos rule,the coherence rule,and the fidelity rule serve as the theoretical framework.Through case studies,this paper explores the translation strategies and translation effects of expressions with typical Chinese characteristics used by speakers.This paper divides the expression with Chinese characteristics into five categories:quadra-syllabic idioms;poetry,proverbs,and common sayings;abbreviations with figures;policies and political expressions;new expressions from the Internet.After analyzing,this paper believes that the skopos rule is the highest principle under skopos theory and that translation strategies are determined by the purpose of the translation action.The coherence rule requires that the translation be in line with the target language habit.The press conferences of the two sessions have their uniqueness and rigorousness.Therefore,translations often reflect faithful rules.When there are contradictions between the three rules,the interpreter should grasp the priority relations among the rules and make some choices when necessary. |
