Language is like a bridge which is an essential tool in human communications. As we all know, there are varieties of languages around the world. It is like a magnifying glass showing the different cultures of each region or country where people speak different languages.Language itself is part of culture, and so to some extent,it also reflects the culture. That people coming from different countries can communicate with each other is due to English, the international language in the world, which makes the world smaller.Chinese is not the international language in the world so far,but it is also a very influential language because there are a great number of people speaking it around the world.Language itself has no emotional meanings, but it is given by people who use it.That is why we can find the gender discrimination in both English and Chinese. So this article will adopt the comparative study method to do some in-depth research and demonstration on the gender discrimination of the word formation in both English and Chinese, then it can be a great help to analyze the causes and to come up with some relative suggestions to reduce or eliminate the phenomenon of gender discrimination in speaking English and Chinese.
