A Practice Report On Guide Interpretation At Sanqing Mountain

With the development of China's economy and society,people's living standard has been improved dramatically in recent years.Tourism,as the tertiary industry,plays an important role in promoting economic development and raising regional cognition.Foreign tourists have a keen interest in Chinese culture and custom,and the number of inbound tourists has been increasing as a result of the increasing frequency of international exchanges.In 2005,the UNESCO World Heritage Forum Series-Sustainable Tourism at World Heritage Sites was held at Sanqing Mountain.After the meeting,the sponsor organized a field trip for experts at home and abroad.The author worked as an interpreting volunteer and accompanied the foreign experts to visit Sanqing Mountain.Based on the translation,the author wrote this practice report and analyzed specific issues relating to the guide interpreting.This practice consists of four chapters.In the first chapter,the task background,task requirement,objective and significance of the study,interpretation material characteristics and the structure of the report are introduced.The second chapter describes the interpretation process,that is,the pre-interpretation preparation,performance of interpreting process and the evaluation after the interpretation.The third chapter is the key part of this practice report.Difficulties from four-character phrases,proper names,long sentences,cultural disparities and time limits and redundancy are analyzed.The relative strategies are proposed to solve them.The author makes a conclusion in the fourth part,and summarizes experience gained from the interpretation,unsolved problems and gives suggestions for further research.The author acquires a deeper understanding of the guide interpreting by this practice report.And this report is anticipated to provide references for those who have interests in the guide interpreting.
