A Project Report On Translation Of Anti-Corruption Institutions Texts Of ASEAN Countries

In the context of communications of Procurator Organs between China and ASEAN countries and the anti-corruption acts in China are developing at a rapid pace,there is a need for Chinese Procurator Organs to understand rules and regulations on anti-corruption institutions of ASEAN countries for reference.At present,there is a lack of discussions about informative texts related to anti-corruption.In this regard,the translation of Anti-Corruption Institutions Texts of ASEAN countries is necessary.The report describes a project of translating 4 texts:The Indonesian Corruption Eradication Commission(KPK),Anti-Corruption Unit,Kingdom of Cambodia,Myanmar Attorney General and the Philippines Presidential Anti-Graft Commission.The translation texts will serve as references for other translators.In the course of translating,the translator takes Peter Newmark's Text Typology and Communicative Translation Theory as guidance.According to the different functions of language,Peter Newmark divided texts into three types:informative text,expressive text and vocative text.The source text introduces history,structures,functions and challenges of anti-corruption institutes,thus belongs to informative text.Communicative translation theory is advised for translating this type of text.The source texts include a large number of terms and long sentences related to anti-corruption and government management.Under the guidance of Peter Newmark's communicative translation theory,the translator uses translation methods including amplification,replacement,conversion to deal with anti-corruption terminology;uses conversion of voice,inversion,division and synthesis translation to deal with complicated long sentences to make the text more idiomatic and easier to read,which hopefully,may offer reference to other translators.
