The report is based on the E-C translation of an academic paper: “Foreign Capital and Economic Growth of China and Emerging Asian Economies”(Excerpt). This translation report aims at finding the translation methods for the financial terms, passive voice and long sentences in financial texts. The translation material amounts to 11,000 words, including chapter six and chapter seven. With the rapid development of the international trade and economic globalization, all the countries are strengthening their cooperation in financial areas, and an increasing number of people in China want to know more about this field. Therefore, the demand for more translators to do this kind of job is on the rise. And this is one of the main reasons why the translator chooses to translate such materials. It's commonly known that financial materials are concerned with many fields, such as political affairs, economy, and trade.Based on the analysis above, the translator spreads out her translation report mainly from the following aspects.Firstly, this paper analyzes the academic papers, especially the stylistic features of professional papers on finance from the macro and micro level, and explores the possible difficulties in translation.Secondly, the translator discusses the Skopos theory.Guided by the Skopos theory, this paper analyzes the main features of financial English texts and focuses on describing the problems in the translator's translating process, and gives a detailed account of the difficult parts and the methods that the translator has adopted.Besides,it also describes the translator's translating and modifying process, and the translator's major findings, limitations and reflections.
