A Report On The E-C Translation Of Urbanization Policy In An Uncertain Economy

With the development of social economy and globalization,urbanization has been an increasingly universal social phenomenon around the world,thus the translation of texts related to urbanization becomes an urgent need.Therefore,the translator translated the report Urbanization Policy in an Uncertain Economy published by the East-West Center.This report is written on the basis of the translator's translation practice.The translator adopts case analysis and concludes effective translation strategies under the guidance of the Skopos Theory in her translation practice.The strategies of literal translation,substitution and conversion of part of speech are mainly applied at the lexical level.The strategies of linear translation,reversing and recasting are adopted at the syntactic level while addition,omission and reference are employed at the discourse level.The report consists of six chapters,namely introduction,translation task description,translation process description,a brief introduction to the Skopos Theory and its applicability,case analysis under the guidance of the Skopos Theory and summary.The translator tries to record,analyze and summarize her translation practice as well as she can,hoping to offer some help for herself and other translators who may participate in translation of think tank research reports in the future.
