Cohesion In The Translation Of Sci-tech Texts

Accurate translation of English science and technology literature is an important means to master foreign advanced technologies.Thus,the translation practice report,based on the translation practice of sci-tech text,has introduced the textual cohesion theory as the guide and discussed the strategies for sci-tech text translation.Starting from the frequently used and most representative cohesion approaches,such as reference,ellipsis,conjunction and lexical cohesion,the report analyzes the differences between Chinese cohesion and English cohesion;then typical translation examples have been selected from the translation practice,and the specific translation approaches have been adopted to achieve the purpose of cohesion in target text.The report consists of five chapters.Chapter One describes the translation task,in which.the background for translation practice and research is introduced,and the original text is analyzed.Chapter Two reviews the whole translation practice process.In Chapter Three,the cohesion theory is introduced and the differences between Chinese cohesion and English cohesion are revealed in comparison.In Chapter Four,based on the analysis of original text cohesion,some translation strategies displayed by some specific translation examples are applied to realize textual cohesion in translation.In Chapter Five,gains and existing problems in the translation practice are reflected.
