A Report On The C-E Translation Of Website News

With the development of globalization,the exchanges and cooperation between domestic universities and foreign universities are becoming increasingly frequent.University website,as a window of domestic universities to the foreigners,is playing a more important role than ever before,as it helps people in other countries to learn about the educational situations of the universities in an efficient way.The translation of website news therefore is extremely significant for the domestic universities.This report,on the translation practice of the website news from School of International Education(SIE),Shandong University of Finance and Economics(SDUFE)from November 2016 to November 2017,aims at analyzing the applicability of the Skopos Theory in the translation in view of the characteristics of website news to deliver the news objectively and accurately,so as to enable foreigners to have some idea of the school.This report consists of five chapters.Chapter One gives a brief introduction to the translation task,translation materials and target readers.Chapter Two deals with the process description,including pre-translation,during-translation and post-translation.Chapter Three is theoretical framework with an emphasis on the three rules of Skopos Theory and its guidance in this translation.Chapter Four is the main body of the report,analyzing the translation process with Skopos Theory from the headline and the body of the news,elaborating how the theory has applied in the translation practice.Chapter five summarizes the gains from this C-E translation task,points out the problems encountered in news translating,and discusses the enlightenment of this report.
