A Report On EC Translation Of Business Agreements

In recent years,with the development of economic globalization and deepening of China's opening-up,economic and trade ties between foreign and domestic enterprises have become much closer.Writing business agreements is one of effective ways for both sides of the enterprises to safeguard their lawful rights and interests in economic and trade events,thus the demand of EC translation of business agreements is on the frequent rise.In spite of a large number of translation researches about such text type,the study of the translation methods in this aspect is not comprehensive enough.Therefore,further in-depth and detailed exploration is needed.The thesis makes an exploration about translation methods and skills of business agreements based on the EC translation of Commercial Agency Agreement and Technology License and Assistance Agreement.First of all,on the basis of social background and research status at the moment,the necessity and significance of this study is discussed.Then the thesis applies Peter Newmark 's theory and indicates its guiding signification towards EC translation of business agreements.Next,the language features of the source text are analyzed from the perspective of words,sentences and discourse.Finally,in-depth analysis of difficult points in the process of EC translation is carried out at a micro level and relevant translation methods are summarized.And the conclusions are drawn as follows.Firstly,accuracy,formality and professionalism should be paid attention to in the word-level,and the translator should adopt literal translation,amplification,and combination.Secondly,in the sentence-level,the translator should combine conversion,division,recombination and other translation skills on the basis of finding out the logic of the source text.It is hoped that this thesis can provide a reference for translation of the same type of texts and improve translation quality and efficiency.
