With the progress and development of society,the economic development of our country is advancing by leaps and bounds.It has entered the “golden age” of economic development and gradually occupied a place in the international economy.In the high speed stage of economic development,the Employee Assistance Program(EAP)has been gradually developed,and the employee assistance employees has gradually developed into a new career.With the development of the Employee Assistance Program,the demand for the new professional staff is increasing.Despite the career of employee assistance employees get develop early,it is only a dozen years since it was used in Chinese cultural background.At present,in Chinese cultural background,this occupation exists such as the quality level of employee assistance employees is uneven,the lack of effective and scientific evaluation mechanism on assistant effectiveness,as well as a series of problems to be solved.For example,because of the short introduction of time and lack of relevant experience,some foreign experience may not be applicable to the cultural background of China,Which cause the professional quality of staff engaged in Employee Assistance Program is uneven and lack of practical experience,and many practitioners can not be well qualified for the professional work of employee assistance,and social needs are not satisfactory.Therefore,in view of the above problems,it is an urgent task to carry out the research on the competency of the employee assistance employees and to standardize the competency of the employee assistance employees,that is,the requirements of the employment qualification and the improvement of the overall quality of the employee assistance employees.Some researchers have done some research,but the related researches are mainly focused on the similar occupation of the employee assistance employees.For example,related research has been conducted for the competency of mental health service personnel,but there is a great difference between employee assistance and other mental health service personnel in the application nature,application field,and the solution of major problems.Therefore,on the basis of the existing research,this paper probes into the professional competence characteristics of employee assistance employees,and adopts the combination of qualitative research and quantitative research,based on the competency ice mountain model,constructs the competency ice mountain model of employee assistance employees,and has compiled the competency measurement tool for the employee assistance employees.The following related research results were obtained.(1)Construction of competency model for employee assistance employees.The competencymodel consists of 36 two level indicators,which constitute the competency of 5 first level indicators,respectively is the general characteristics(such as affinity),professional traits(such as emotional stability),knowledge cultivation(such as employee assistance knowledge),professional skills(such as employee assistance skills etc.)and occupation ethics(such as abide by the principle of confidentiality,etc.)of employee assistance employees.Among them,knowledge cultivation and professional skills belong to the "above the iceberg" in iceberg model,while the general traits,professional characteristics and professional ethics belong to the "under the iceberg" of iceberg model.(2)Developing the Employee Assistance Employees Competency Scale.According to the competency model of employee assistance employees,this study further developed the Employee Assistance Employees Competency Scale,which consists of 36 items and 5dimensions,and each dimension is named respectively general characteristics,professional traits,knowledge cultivation,professional skills and occupation ethics of employee assistance employees.The statistical results of the scale showed that the scale had good reliability.The results of confirmatory factor analysis showed that the structure validity of the scale was good.The results of the criterion samples shows that the validity is reached.In conclusion,the results of psychometric statistics indicate that all indicators of the scale are good,which can be used as a access standard for employee assistance employees in the current stage.The results of this study further enrich and develop the competency iceberg model,which is of theoretical significance.At the same time,the construction of the competency model and the development of the questionnaire are helpful to the recruitment,selection and performance evaluation of the staff,as well as the education and training of the related employee assistance employees.It also plays a certain role in promoting the professional development of the employee assistance employees..
