Interpreting is a complex and multitasking process of information processing. In the process of interpreting, there are many factors, including bilingual ability, encyclopedic knowledge, interpretation skills, interpretation tasks and psychological quality. These factors affect and restrict the information processing and distribution of attention. This study intends to explore the main causes of the imbalance of effort distribution by means of empirical research. This report takes simulated interpreting task as the main experimental process,to collect subjects’ interpreting data such as audio and notes, and their reflection data on the task collected through questionnaire. In the end, causes for the break of Effort Model were analyzed. There are many factors that affect the improper distribution of efforts in interpreting. The break of Effort Model in interpretation is dynamic and fluctuant. In this research, the interpretation process is decomposed and many factors restrict the students’ interpretation performance.Language ability and interpretation skills are two major aspects. For most students who have just started learning interpretation, language learning is important, but in this process, the decomposed skill training through various means is of vital importance to the advancement of students’interpretation ability. These trainings concern methods of note-taking,short-term memory skills, listening and analysis skills as well as production skills.
