Poverty-stricken students,as a special group of college students, have always received widespread attention from society and scholars. In recent years, researchers have relatively few researches on the mental health of freshman poor students, and most of them are also the mental health status of poor freshmen.Investigation and research, and the intervention research on self-acceptance level of freshman poor students through group counseling is almost blank. This study is divided into two parts. The first part deals with self-acceptance and self-esteem levels of freshmen's poor students. The SAQ and the SES were used for 314 freshmen of a certain university in Wuhan(including 130 freshman poor students).Questionnaire surveys were conducted to analyze the differences in self-acceptance and self-esteem of freshmen and non-impoverished students, and the relationship between demographic variables and self-acceptance and self-esteem of freshman poor students. The second part is the experimental study of group counseling, and discusses the influence of group counseling on the self-acceptance level of freshman poor students from the perspective of positive psychology.Selection of Research Subjects According to the screening conditions,20 students were selected from the survey subjects(two students were excluded for special reasons)and randomly divided into experimental and control groups.Seven group interventions were conducted on the experimental group, and the control group did not perform group intervention. After the end of the group intervention, two groups of subjects were posttested, and the experimental group was tracked and measured one month after the end of the intervention. The data of this study will be analyzed by SPSS22.0.Through the analysis of the results, the conclusions of this study are as follows:(1)There are significant differences in the level of self-acceptance and self-esteem among fresh and poor students. The self-acceptance level of the freshmen poor is significantly lower than that of the non-poor students, and the level of self-esteem is significantly higher than that of the non-impoverished students.(2)There is a gender difference in self-acceptance level among poor college students, and self-acceptance level of female students is significantly higher than that of male students. The difference in self-acceptance level of impoverished college students is not statistically significant in the place of origin and profession.(3)There is no significant difference in the level of self-esteem among poor college students in terms of gender, profession, and source of students;(4)Group counseling from the perspective of positive psychology has a significant eeffect on improving the self-acceptance level of the freshman poor students.
