Translation Report Of Dalian Government Website

With the development of globalization,the world is becoming a “village”,and China needs to be internationalization in politics,economy,culture and so on.As one part of the official government website,the English version of official government website is an important window for external publicity and the Internet link for international exchange.Therefore,governments at all levels pay more and more attention to the construction of official websites.The author had the opportunity to participate in the project of the English Portal of the Dalian government during the postgraduate study,which leads to this translation report.All the sample texts are translated by the author herself.Each text has been revised by experienced translators working for the project,confirmed by the author and proofread by the reviewers to guarantee the quality of the translation.This paper provides a brief description of the project and the translation process.The focus is on translation of long sentences.With the guidance of Interpretive Theory,the difficulties in long sentence translation are put into four categories---implied logical relations,redundant information,implied subject and overlong sentences.It also summarizes four steps in long sentence translation---determining logical relations,omitting redundant information,determining subjects and restructuring long sentences.
