Report On The Translation Of The Limited Partnership Interest Subscription Agreement

Business contract is a kind of official document with legal effect.It is the evidence of the agreement between the parties to the transaction and it shows great importance in guiding the parties to trade according to the provisions.Business contract plays a very important role in promoting international trade and regulating the market.Belonging to the scope of a business contract,Subscription Agreement is the agreement reached between the parties on the purchase,holding,and execution of equity rights with the principles of fairness and honesty.With the globalization of the economy,partnership interest subscriptions are no longer confined to one country.Therefore,an accurate translation of the subscription agreement and its associated agreements is of great significance in promoting business cooperation in different countries.This translation practice report aims at summarizing the typical problems encountered by the author when translating the subscription agreement and its associated agreements.It focuses on the analysis of how to handle the translation problems from lexical correspondence,sentence patterns to the formats of the whole document with the guidance of Fidelity Rule,Coherence Rule,Skopos Rule of the German Functional Translation Theory,trying to provide some experience and reference for translators engaged in the translation of business contracts.This practice report is mainly divided into four parts: the first chapter describes the background,target readers,and the goals of the translation project;the second chapter describes the translation process,including preparation,glossary formulation and proofreading;The third chapter is the case analysis based on the German Functional Translation Theory.It mainly analyzes the translation of formal words,parallel synonyms,and ancient words,translation of attributives,adverbials,and passive sentences,and processing of the whole paragraphs;Chapter Four summarizes the inadequacies of the translation and the author's reflections on this translation project.
