A large number of researches have been done to promote translation quality of corporate profiles from linguistic,functional,cross-cultural and adaptive perspectives.However,those studies are not a panacea to redundant expressions in C-E translation of online corporate profiles.To this end,this thesis studies different manifestations of redundancies at different levels in C-E translation of online corporate profiles in a collection of 105 profile samples from 2017 FORTUNE Global 500 corporations from a relatively new perspective: Economics of Language in hoping to provide additional theoretical and practical criteria for translators and translation researchers either in translation practice or research.A combination of qualitative and quantitative method is adopted: Qualitative method is mainly used in the analysis of how a word,phrase,sentence or even paragraph inconsistency with Economics of Language or redundant at different levels,i.e.semantic,syntactic,textual as well as cultural.And quantitative method is concentrating on concordance and frequencies of each target word with the aid of Antconc in order to ensure the reliability of research findings.The study shows that redundant information on the semantic level takes the forms of unnecessary nouns,unnecessary verbs,unnecessary modifiers and redundant twins;redundancy caused by sentence structure on syntactic level;geographical reference redundancy and political description redundancy on textual level;history information,awards and titles,Chinese culture-specific terms on cultural level.Based on research findings,suggestions are put forward accordingly to minimize the redundant information in C-E translation of online corporate profiles.What's more,underlying causes of the existence of redundancy in C-E translation are also discussed.
