The new English curriculum standard stresses the importance of students' ability to find problems and solve problems by focusing on the student?centered teaching philosophy and the cultivation of students' comprehensive abilities.However,the traditional teaching mode is largely influenced by exam?oriented education,in which it is a common phenomenon for the teacher to dominate the class.So,it is not conducive to implementing the concept of new curriculum.In recent years,research and practice have proved that the learning-plan-based guided learning teaching mode has far-reaching significance in improving the classroom efficiency and guiding the students to learn independently.The learning-plan-based guided learning(LPGL)teaching mode means the students learn under the guidance of the teacher according to the learning plan designed by teachers that corresponds to the teacher's teaching plans.It is a way of the students' learning solutions and a teaching assistant material which guides students to study independently.To further investigate the application effects of this teaching mode in junior high school English teaching,the author conducted an experiment among 100 students of two classes of the eight grade in No.Eleven High School in Guilin,Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.This research aims to answer the two questions:1.What effects does the learning-plan-based guided learning(LPGL)teaching mode have on students' autonomous learning ability in junior high school?2.How can the learning-plan-based guided learning teaching mode boost junior high school students' English academic performance?This research is based on such theories as constructivism learning,self-regulated learning,task-based teaching,cooperation learning and quality education.These theories provide value instructions and enlightenment to the design and implementation of the guided learning plan.The research methods include questionnaire,interview,pre test and post test.The investigation shows the learning-plan-based guided learning mode is beneficial to improve students' understanding and overall grasp of knowledge points.It is also beneficial to students' exploration of knowledge,and is conducive to improving students' ability to solve problems independently and accomplish tasks.So,it can enhance students' English comprehensive ability and their autonomous learning ability.However,there are some problems in the application of the new teaching model,for instance,some students do not pay enough attention to the guided learning plan or make good use of it for revision;the design of the guided learning plan need to be more innovative and in the aspect of dealing with individual differences,it also requires more in-depth exploration,and so on.Limited to the author's academic ability and individual ability,there are quite a few shortcomings,such as the study on the new teaching model is not comprehensive,the teaching experiment was implemented only in two classes,which undermines its representativeness,and the exploration into the problems found during the implementation process is on the surface,so on.
