With the progress of society and the development of science and technology,the urban planning of China is in full swing.In these circumstances,translating the Introduction “Portland's Historical Personality” and Chapter One “Capital of the Columbia” from Greater Portland: Urban Life and Landscape in the Pacific Northwest into Chinese is particularly significant for China's urban planning,at the same time,it also enriches the literature and research case of urban planning in China.There are four parts in this thesis.The first part briefly introduces the background of the source text and tries to explain its meaning.The second part is about the preparation that is required to the translation process.The third part constitutes the core of the study.By using specific examples,it will explore the application of the concept of the “Translator's Invisibility” in the translation of scientific and technological texts.Finally,the fourth part proposes the conclusions the shortcomings.By writing this report,the author concludes that in the process of translation of scientific literature,the “Translator's Invisibility” theory can be used as guideline for science translation,and the target text will be in this way easier to understand by target readers.
