The Kwangsi Clique, also called as the Gui Clique,is a highly controversial local military and political bloc in Chinese history.Wars of the Gui Clique is a military literature which records the war history of the Gui Clique in the first half of the 20~thh century. It linearly narrates a series of military events like the New Gui Clique's north march for the Anti-Japanese War,its participation in the Battle of Shanghai, the blocking action in the south section of Jinpu railway and the Battle of Taierzhuang in a brief and precise writing style.Based on the English translation of the book's Chapter 25 and the first and second sections of Chapter 26,this translation report takes the guidance of three criteria of Eugene A.Nida's Functional Equivalence Theory, including conveying information, making translation idiomatic and smooth to the target language, conveying the original spirit and style. It adopts the translation methods like literal translation, liberal translation, addition, combination and conversion of sentences, structural adjustment of discourses to analyze the translation from three aspects of the vocabulary, the sentences and the discourses.Guided by Functional Equivalence Theory, the author systematically concludes the translation strategies about the war history text according to the text features and translation difficulties of the source text and guides the readers to know more about the contribution of the New Gui Clique in the Anti-Japanese War.
