The research object of this paper is advanced stage foreign students,in order to investigate the current situation of literary competence of foreign students by means of the combination of questionnaire survey and foreign student's essay.The investigation starts from the four parts of literary competence,including the ability to recognize literary and artistic linguistic context types,literary and artistic language mark mastery ability,literary and artistic style comprehension and expression ability and transform the literary style ability.The investigation results are as follows:(1)At the advanced stage,there is an obvious polarization phenomenon between the students' literary competence.(2)The ability to recognize literary and artistic linguistic context types: The foreign students in the questionnaire have a higher level of recognition and selection of literary and artistic style,but in the essay,it still appears stylistic errors because of the lack of cognition in the literary and artistic language context,which results in colloquial expression.(3)Literary and artistic style mark mastery ability: Foreign students can experience the expression function of the literary mark,can distinguish the literary mark basically.In foreign student's essay,it can be found that students are capable of using literary style markers for creation.But there is two main problems,the use of literary and artistic style markers is uneven and the polarization phenomenon in the use of literary and artistic style markers.(4)Literary and artistic style comprehension and expression ability: The comprehension ability of literary and artistic style is much higher than that of expression.Secondly,most of advanced students can understand the characteristics of rhetoric,structure and rhythm in the literary style.Some foreign students have the motivation to use rhetorical devices,and they are good at using the structure of the article to add the literary style of the article.(5)Transform the literary style ability: Foreign students are weak in transform theliterary style,oversimplification in transform expression.Some of the original morphological markers were not converted in time and it is easy to lose the content of the original corpus during the transformation process.There is a lot of mixture of different styles in expression.According to the current situation of foreign students' literary competence,the factors that influence the formation of their language ability are investigated.This paper puts forward some suggestions on how to develop the literary competence of students in advanced stage from the aspects of syllabus,teaching materials,teachers and students themselves.
