Mistakes In Consecutive Translation From The Perspective Of Jill’s The Effort Model

Practice is an effective way to improve the interpreter’s level.By practicing,you can find problems that are difficult to detect in training.In an interpreting practice,the author found that the simple and easy interpreting task was not easy.After looking through Daniel Gile’s "The Effort Model" theory,the author found the answer.Both Daniel Gile and some psychologists believe that the processing capacity of the human brain is limited.Once the cognitive load exceeds the cognitive limit of the human brain,cognitive errors occur.The same is true for interpreters.Under the pressure of load,the quality of interpretation is easily affected by external factors and internal factors.Interpretation of two speeches at the opening ceremony of the International Seminar on education of Russian language in Middle School was the case of study.The author summarized and analyzed the mistakes in the Russian-Chinese and Chinese-Russian interpretation.Before the opening ceremony,the author did a lot of preparation work.The author got the manuscript and agenda in advance.Through listening,the author found that the errors in interpretation are mostly improper pauses and mistakes,especially in Chinese-Russian interpretation.The author analyzed the reasons for the mistakes and found such mistakes are mainly by state of high concentration of the spirit,unfavorable external factors.All of these have influence on the author’s interpretation.In the forth chapter,the author summarized several useful methods,including strengthening the interpreting training without taking notes,consolidation of foundation and improving psychological quality.If conditions permit,communicate more with senior interpreters and learn from them.More experience and more reading will constantly improve interpreting level.The strategies provided by the author can help improve the quality of the interpretation output,and also provide some reference for other junior interpreters.
