On Translation Of Academic Text

Based on the translation of Britannia Unchained: Global Lessons for Growth and Prosperity,a symposium by five Conservative MPs,this thesis attempts to put forward some strategies for the translation of academic texts in terms of technical terms or culture-loaded words and sentence reconstruction.In the course of technical term translation,strategies of “making full use of online resources and terminological dictionaries”,“literal translation+translator's notes” and “transcreation based on the understanding of the original text” are used for accurate expression.In the course of complex sentence translation,strategies of linear translation,inversion,division,combination and the change of the voices are employed for an accurate representation of the original text.The thesis concludes in the hope of providing some help to the English learners and translators.
