An Application Of Communicative Tactics In Chinese-English Liaison Interpreting

This interpreting practice report is based on a liaison interpreting of the 2018 China(Liaoning)Hungary Cultural Exchange Week.Under the appointment of the Liaoning Provincial People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries,the author provided a 100-minute liaison interpreting service for the Hungarian craftsmen visiting China.Most of the content of this liaison interpreting is the introduction of Shenyang 1905 Re-creative Space and its sub-districts,and there were some proper nouns and technical terms during the interpreting,which requires the author to prepare enough for this interpreting task and to master the related interpreting theory and relative tactics.During the analysis of this interpreting practice recording,the author found that the interpreter frequently used tactics like supplement,omission,and replacement during the liaison interpreting.According to Anderson's basic pattern of interaction of interpreting,this practice report proves that the author's multiple use of the tactics of supplement,omission and replacement in the process of liaison interpreting is not to interfere with the communicative intentions of the two-part interlocutors,but to protect the communicativeness of the interpreting;and based on the interpreting communicative tactics proposed by Cai Xiaohong,the report focuses on analyzing the author's interpreting tactics of supplement,omission and replacement in the process of the liaison interpreting,and after classifying,illustrating and demonstrating these tactics are proved to be consistent with characteristics of the interpreting communicative tactics,which demonstrated that the author used the communicative tactics in the liaison interpreting practice legitimately.
